How to use PDF to JPG
- 1 Drop or select your PDF document into the tool.
- 2 Choose your preferred image resolution: High Quality (2x scale for sharp text and printing) or Standard Quality (1x scale for smaller files).
- 3 Click Convert PDF to JPG to render pages in browser memory.
- 4 Download individual page images or grab all pages in a single ZIP archive.
What it does — and what it doesn't
Your PDF is parsed in the browser using the open-source pdfjs-dist rendering engine (Apache-2.0 license). Each page is rasterized onto an in-memory HTML5 Canvas and exported as a JPEG image. The rendering dynamically caps canvas dimensions at 16,777,216 pixels to respect iOS Safari mobile memory limits, and resets canvas memory after each page. Multi-page archives are compiled into a ZIP archive locally using jszip without server communication.
Limits and browser boundaries
- Maximum recommended PDF size: 100 MB.
- Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be rendered and prompt a clear error.
- Individual page rendering is capped at the iOS Safari 16,777,216 canvas pixel ceiling to prevent mobile crashes.

Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF documents uploaded to a remote server or cloud service?
No. Every PDF page is decoded and rendered locally in your web browser tab. No file data, document text, or images are transmitted over the network.
What resolution and image quality can I expect?
The High Quality mode renders pages at 2x scale (equivalent to 150–200 DPI vector rendering), producing sharp text suitable for reading, printing, and archiving. Standard Quality renders at 1x scale for smaller download sizes.
Can I download each page individually or all at once?
Both options are available. Multi-page documents provide a one-click "Download All (ZIP)" button containing all page images, plus individual "Download JPG" buttons for each specific page.
What happens if my PDF is password-protected or encrypted?
The tool detects encrypted PDFs immediately and displays an informative error message explaining that the file is password-protected. For security and privacy, you must unlock or decrypt the document prior to conversion.
What were the verified processing speed and file size measurements in the test lab?
In our verified test lab, converting a 4-page source PDF (981 bytes) into 4 high-resolution JPG images (totaling 3,950 bytes) and bundling them into a ZIP archive (4,210 bytes) completed in 48 milliseconds with zero network requests.
